Types of Braces

At Taft Hill Orthodontics Longmont, we offer a variety of braces to straighten teeth and correct bite problems, ultimately providing you with a more beautiful smile. Dr. T.C. Hardy, an orthodontic specialist for children, teenagers, and adults, uses several types of braces to help you achieve your cosmetic goals, including:

Traditional Braces

Traditional braces use a system of wires and brackets bonded to the teeth to shift them into their ideal positions. While they do affect the appearance of your smile during treatment, they are often the most cost-effective orthodontic option. Additionally, traditional braces can provide the best cosmetic results for patients with severe orthodontic issues.

Short-Term Braces

Short-term braces aim to align the front six teeth without adjusting the occlusion (bite). Our experienced orthodontist can evaluate your needs to determine if short-term braces are the orthodontic treatment suitable for you. Kindly contact us to schedule a consultation and discuss your options with Dr. Hardy. Additionally, if you have gaps between your teeth, Dr. Hardy can assess whether short-term braces or another treatment option is best to address this concern.

Clear Braces

Unlike traditional braces, clear braces use ceramic brackets designed to match the color of your teeth. This makes clear braces a more discreet option compared to the traditional metal wires and brackets. Additionally, the ceramic brackets are stain-resistant, ensuring that your smile looks its best during the teeth straightening process. If you want to learn about underbites and overbites, our team can provide comprehensive information and discuss how clear braces can address these issues.

Invisalign® and ClearCorrect™

As an alternative to traditional braces, Invisalign® and ClearCorrect™ use clear, removable aligners to straighten teeth, making these treatments nearly invisible to others. With a series of progressive, custom-fit aligners, your teeth are gently guided into their ideal positions. This method allows you to eat, drink, and maintain oral hygiene with ease. Most patients achieve their desired results within 12 months. During your consultation, Dr. Hardy will help you determine which treatment option best suits your individual needs.

Lingual Braces

Lingual braces offer the cosmetic advantage of being hidden behind the teeth rather than bonded to the front. This makes them a discreet alternative to traditional braces, achieving the same effective results with a nearly undetectable appearance during treatment. They are an excellent option for athletes, musicians who play wind instruments, and patients who are not candidates for Invisalign® but desire a more discreet orthodontic treatment.
